Ho Chi Minh City, 31 October 2011 – On 28 October 2011, 50 CapitaLand staff spent their Friday at Nam Cat Tien National Park in Dong Nai Province and planted 50 trees at the national park as part of CapitaLand’s commitment to conserve and protect the environment in the overseas communities which it operates.
Mr Yip Hoong Mun, Deputy CEO of CapitaLand Vietnam, said: “CapitaLand has always been mindful of conserving the natural environment. We constantly remind our stakeholders including staff, business partners and serviced residence guests the importance of 3 Rs which stands for reduce, reuse and recycle to protect the environment. We remain committed to be a good corporate citizen and build a greener future for the Vietnamese and the many generations to come.”
In Vietnam, CapitaLand (Vietnam) and Ascott, CapitaLand’s wholly-owned serviced residence business unit, were both awarded Saigon Times Top 40 Awards – Green Value for two consecutive years in 2009 and 2010. The awards honor outstanding foreign-invested enterprises that have made practical contributions to Vietnam’s economic development as well as contributed ideas and implemented specific actions to build a sustainable environment and a greener future for the Vietnamese community.
CapitaLand has implemented the holistic Environment Management System (EMS) to ensure that environmental practices are practiced consistently across the Group for the development and management of properties. A key pillar of this system is the CapitaLand Green Building Guidelines, which advocates green best practices and applies to all of the Group’s major building development and management projects. The Group regularly carries out environmental impact assessments for all new projects to ensure that environmental risks are assessed, managed and controlled.
CapitaLand’s first residential project in Vietnam, The Vista located in An Phu Ward, District 2 in Ho Chi Minh City, and Mulberry Lane, its latest residential project located in Ha Dong District in Hanoi, have incorporated good building and design practices similar to its other international projects. The two developments feature sustainable designs like well-considered units and blocks layouts that provide good natural ventilation with ample window openings to reduce the need for artificial lighting during the day. Along with lush landscaping that provide amenities and shade, sky gardens and roof gardens also create vertical greening and a visual respite. The Vista was successfully completed on schedule in September 2011 and the apartments are progressively being handed over to homebuyers.
